Buckinghamshire RSPB Reserve: Church Wood
(Please click onto RSPB website above, for exact location)
A beautiful place for quiet woodland walks. Stroll along dappled paths through beech, ash and oak, a springtime carpet of sweet scented bluebells, and beside a meadow where wildflowers flourish.
You may find good numbers of common woodland birds, including blackcaps, chiffchaffs, robins and thrushes. Listen out, too for the drumming of woodpeckers and the loud ringing 'tuit tuit tuit' of the nuthatch. Other birds to look out for are Buzzards, Jays and Treecreepers.
This is a natural site with unimproved paths and trails - the access around this site may not be suitable for all visitors. If you have concerns, please contact the reserve or regional office before your visit to discuss your requirements.
Other Information:
Dogs should preferably be kept on a lead, but especially during the breeding season (April to June) to reduce disturbance to nesting birds.
