Clandon Park was built c.1730 for the 2nd Lord Onslow by Venetian architect Giacomo Leoni. It is the most complete example of Leoni's work to survive - the most impressive room being the magnificent two storeyed-, white Marble Hall. The house is filled with a suberb collection of 18th-century furniture, porcelain and textiles, acquired in the 1920s by the connoisseur Mrs Gubbay.

The atttractive gardens contain a grotto and sunken Dutch garden, and Clandon also boasts a Maori meeting house, brought back from New Zealand in 1892 by the 4th Earl of Onslow, who was Governor there. The Onslow family is unique in that it has provided three Speakers of the House of Commons.

The Queen's Royal Surrey Regiment Museum is based at Clandon Park and is open to visitors the same days as the house.

For an extra charge you can go on a morning guided tour that run Tuesday to Thursday, or introductory talks that are free. Booking for these is essential.

Children's quiz/trail available.
