| Cowdray Heritage Trust, Cowdray, 01730 810781 Cowdray was originally built in the 1500s but almost completely burnt down in 1793. Only the Kitchen Tower remained but this went to rot over the next 100 years. Some renovation took place in the early 1900's but it was not until recently that a major renovation took place and the ruins and Kitchen Tower of Cowdray was re-opened in 2007. Visitors to the Heritage Trust are given an interesting audio tour. |

The large, echoing, underground tunnels were built into the cliffs and are complete with gun emplacements and ramparts. |

| The Long Man of Willmington, Wilmington, 01273 474610 Mystery continues to surround the picture in the grass at Wilmington. The outline of a man was discovered in 1710 and it has been suggested that the original drawing was not quite the same as what lies there today. During the Second World War the figure was painted green to stop the enemy using this as a landmark. |

| Charleston, Firle, 01323 811265 Seventeen-century farmhouse, that in the early 20th century became the meeting place for the Bloomsbury Group, a group of pioneering writers, painters and intellectuals. Vanessa Bell and Duncan Grant moved to Charleston in 1916 and over the next half a century put their artistic abilities to work in around the house creating murals, painted furniture, ceramics, paintings and textiles, as well as a painters garden filled with sculptures, mosaics and ponds. |

Today it is the International Study Centre, part of Queen’s University, Canada.
