Adventure Balloons, Hartley Wintney, 01252 844222

Fly up to 300ft across the South East of England in a balloon.  Flights last around an hour and distance covered is anything between two to twenty miles, depending on the wind!  Adventure balloons are based in Hampshire, but flights can be taken across the South East in Hampshire, Surrey, Oxfordshire, Kent, Berkshire and Sussex.
Amateur Horse Racing, Point-to-Point, South East, 0207 152 000

Point-to-Point racing is amateur steeplechase racing, often held on farm land, throughout the South East.  They are great basic racing events where you can often drive close up to the track and have a picnic, and are fun for the whole family.  The season runs from December to June with events mostly taking place at weekends. Most of the races are 3 miles with a minimum of 18 fences.  Horses that start of as amateurs at point-to-points often go on to become good National Hunt racehorses.
Hook Norton Brewery, Hook Norton, Oxfordshire, 01608 730384

Family brewery established 150 year and only one of 32 independent family run breweries, and the only brewery to be driven by steam.  The brewery runs a brewery tour that lasts about two hours and consists of a guided trip around the brewery, the museum and the village museum, followed by beer sampling.
The Chinnor & Princes Risborough Railway, Chinnor, 01844 353535

Take a journey on a steam train from Chinnor station along seven miles of track and take in the views and the history of the area.  In 2008 Chinnor are offering a series of Steam locomotive driving experience days, ranging in price and intensity.

Christmas Events & Activities: Santa will be giving out presents to children on the train on the 6th, 7th, 13th, 14th, 20th and 21st December.  Adults will receive seasonal refreshments.  On the 13th December listen to traditional carols on the Carol Evening Train.

Walking Tours of Oxford, Oxford, 01865 252200

The Oxford Tourist Information Centre offers a selection of official guided walking tours of Oxford, taking in famous sites, lanes and passages.  Separate tours include those of the University and City, an Inspector Morse Tour, Family Tour, Pub Tour and many more.  Tours generally last two hours and cover one to two miles.

The Oxford Ghost Trail, Oxford, 07941 041811

Walk the Oxford Ghost Trail every Friday and Saturday evening.  A costumed professional actor guides visitors through the streets of old Oxford, divulging entertaining historical information .  The guide, Bill Spectre (distinctively dressed as a Victorian undertaker) leaves Oxford Castle Unlocked at 6.30pm, or the Tourist Information Centre at Broad Street at 7pm, with tours lasting 1¾ and 1½ hours, depending on where you walkers join the tour.

Oxford River Cruises, Oxford, 0845 2269396

For something different why not go on one of a range of boat trips, sightseeing tours and dining cruises on the River Thames, on an Edwardian style boat.  The River Experience Sightseeing Trip is a fifty minute cruise, with a complimentary glass of wine.  The Lunchtime Picnic cruise combines sightseeing with a gourmet picnic lunch.  The Sunset Picnic leaves the mooring at 6pm.

Absolute Touring, Oxford to the Cotswolds, 01865 302964

Day small-group guided tours of the Cotswolds, transported in a people carrier.  The journey through the Cotswolds stops at some of the Cotswolds most beautiful town and villages.  The journey starts out from Oxford, then first stop Burford (the gateway to the Cotswolds). Through the lanes to Bourton-on-the-Water (Little Venice of the Cotswolds). Upper and Lower Slaughter (Clusters of honey-coloured Cotswold stone buildings). Stow-on-the-Wold (17th century wool town with a hill-top location on the Fosse Way). Broadway (Home of the world famous Lygon Arms and Broadway Tower). Chipping Campden (14th century wool town). Chipping Norton (The highest town in Oxfordshire), and then returning to Oxford.  The tours run Sundays, Wednesday and Friday, 9.30am-5.30pm.

Salters Steamers, Folly Bridge, Oxford, Oxfordshire, 01865 243421

A family run business that was established in 1858, Salters offers a wide range of river experiences from short cruises to the hiring of punts to individuals.  They also run special cruises that include jazz cruises.  Short trips include cruising from Oxford to Windsor, Abingdon, Marlow, Henley and Reading. Punts, day-boats and other small craft are available for those looking to go it alone, or there is a chauffeured punt service.  The official season is generally May to September.
