Mountain boarding is like a hybrid cross between snow boarding and skateboarding, but with no hard concrete landings and no need to wait for the snow to arrive!!! Mountain boarding is where you take a big oversized skateboard with tyre wheels and foot straps and descend grassy hills, forests trails, launch off jumps, and grind rails.

Point-to-Point, South East, 0207 152 000

Point-to-Point racing is amateur steeplechase racing, often held on farm land, throughout the South East.  They are great basic racing events where you can often drive close up to the track and have a picnic, and are fun for the whole family.  The season runs from December to June with events mostly taking place at weekends. Most of the races are 3 miles with a minimum of 18 fences.  Horses that start of as amateurs at point-to-points often go on to become good National Hunt racehorses.

Goodwood Racecourse, Goodwood,

Goodwood Racecourse has stunning views over the Sussex Downs, making it a particularly lovely racecourse to visit.  Race meetings run from May to October in 2008 with the ever popular “Glorious Goodwood” taking place at the end of July/beginning of August.  There are three enclosures and dress codes apply.

Locoated on the Kent and Sussex borders, this indoor climbing centre has a 360 square metre climbing area.  Bouldering, leading, top roping and an abseil tower are some of the climbing facilities available.

Fontwell Park is a small racecourse set in landscaped gardens. The course is a mile round, with a figure-of-eight steeplechase course.  Various type of racing events take place throughout the year including family days and evening racing with entertainment afterwards.

Rookwood Golf Course is a public pay and play course, adjacent to the Warnham Nature Reserve, ensuring it is rich with wildlife as well. An 18-hole, par 72 course, and a 9-hole pitch and putt course.

Watersports activity centre with sailing, windsurfing and canoeing.  Open to young and old, with varying level of courses from a few hours upwards.  The reservoir is an ideal spot for teaching canoeing etc, whilst Chichester Harbour is used for activities such as powerboating, yachting etc.

Small racecourse with views over the South Downs. Sixteen National Hunt meetings take place between September and May.  There are three enclosures, one of which is the Course Enclosure where visitors can take picnics or make use of the Course bar.  Children under 16 free provided they are with a paying adult.

Brighton Racecourse, Brighton, Sussex, 01273 603580

Brighton Racecourse is located in the centre of Brighton, with views of the Sussex Downs and Brighton Marina. Meetings take place between April and October, with the three day festival being held in August. There are two enclosures, and children under 16 are free when accompanied by a paying adult.

 

Sussex County Cricket Club, Hove, Sussex, 0844 264 0202

Formed in 1839, the Sussex County Cricket Club grounds are at Eaton Road, Hove.  The cricket season runs until the end of September, with the popular Twenty20 event taking place in June.  The Indoor School runs schools’ coaching schemes and holiday coaching courses for children.

Located on the 16,500 acre Cowdray Estate in the middle of beautiful Sussex countryside, Cowdray Park is recognised as the Home of British Polo – but you don’t have to compete or be a member of the club to enjoy a relaxing afternoon watching the polo while nibbling on our picnic whilst sitting on the grass sipping a chilled glass of wine.  Non-members are welcome to the matches that are held regularly until September.  The Polo Club has two sets of grounds, one near Midhurst and the other between Midhurst and Petworth.   

Lakeside Superbowl, Berkshire, Oxfordshire & Sussex,

Lakeside Superbowl have bowling centres countrywide and specifically in Newbury, Chichester and Banbury.  The centres all have numerous lanes, pool tables, amusements, dining and big screen TVs.

Yellowave is the UK’s first permanent beach sports venue.  Based on the Brighton seafront, the site offers activities for adults and children, experienced and novice.  Activities include volleyball, beach soccer, footvolley, bouldering, beach rugby, ultimate Frisbee, beach handball and beachminton.  

Chichester Ship Canal Trust, Chichester, Sussex, 01243 771363

There is plenty to do on the Chichester Canal from boat cruises to canoeing.  The daily 12-seater narrowboat cruise runs from April to November from the Canal Basin to Donnington Bridge.  Alternatively, visitors can hire a skiff for a leisurely row. Canoeists can obtain tickets to use the 4km of canal throughout the year.  Provided Anglers have a rod license, they can obtain seasonal, weekly or day tickets and fish the well stocked canal.  And for walkers, runners and cyclists there is a 4km towpath where a varied list of wildlife can be seen.  The Chichester Canal is a charitable trust maintained by the Chichester Ship Canal Trust with all services being manned by volunteers from the Chichester Ship Canal Trust, who crew the trip boats, run the shop, bailiff the angling and carry out maintenance and restoration work.

Hollywood Bowl has bowling centres throughout the UK and centres specifically in Bracknell and Crawley.  Both centres have at least 24 lanes, games arcade areas and cafes.
