Opened in 1965 and named after the French actress who made her name locally, the theatre stages local touring shows, of which many transfer to the West End. Ballet, opera and regular children's events, along with comedy, contemporary dance, music and pantomimes are all staged here. In 1991 it moved across the road to what was an old school, and is today the only professional permanent round theatre in London.
