RNLI SOS Day - Join in with the RNLI’s biggest fundraising day on Friday 27st January to show your support for our volunteer lifeboat crews and lifeguards. Whether you raise money at school, at work or anywhere else, your donations will enable us to carry on their vital life saving work. The RNLI is a registered charity that has saved over 139,000 lives at sea since it was founded in 1824. Highdown Vineyard will again be hosting a Burns Supper to celebrate the life of the baird.
They intend the evening to combine the formalities of a traditional Burns Night with the cheerful friendly atmosphere of a Highdown tasting and the twist on cooking of traditional fayre.
This year having extended the winery building and converted another room they will be able to offer a dance floor and will organise a traditional reel to dance and finish the evening.

Chinese New Year 2012 - Year of the Dragon. Celebrations will take place on 29th January. All are welcome at London's free events in Chinatown and Trafalgar Square to welcome in the Year of the Rabbit. There will be Chinese arts and entertainment from international and home-grown artists, and food, firecrackers and fireworks..
The parade starts at 10.15am from Trafalgar Square, and returns to Trafalgar Square at noon, where there will be free entertainment until 6pm.

The Chinese Association of Southampton will host the Chinese New Year Celebration in Southampton, 29th January. This year the event will take place in the West Quay Shopping Centre.
The celebration will begin at 11.30 a.m.
There is a full programme lasting about one and a half hours.
The spectators will see the breathtaking skill of the Lion Dancers; the traditional folk dancing; martial arts display; Chinese musical instrument playing and an all female choir singing traditional New Year songs etc.
This year there will also be some modern performances.
The programme will finish with the Dragon Dance parade. In addition, a Chinese New Year market will be organised outside West Quay.
