The Stephan Langton

Country pub, warm, stylish and set in beautiful surroundings

The Stephan Langton is a lovely country pub hidden in stunning Surrey countryside beside a tranquil lake.  A warm, unspoilt pub offering a stylish restaurant and a traditional pub area with leather/wooden chairs at the bar, additional seating at wooden tables and a log fire during the winter months.

The pub is a welcome haven to walkers, cyclists, families and locals who mingle together in the pub.  The owners have made some improvements to the layout of the pub that are completely in character with the traditional country feel of the surroundings.

The Stephan Langton serves great food in both the bar and restaurant.  Choose from freshly prepared delicious baguettes, light lunches or sumptuous main dishes.

The Pub

The pub area of the Stephan Langton is cosy, warm and inviting, decorated in traditional country reds and browns.  The rustic bar and corner fireplace adds to the country feel of the pub, with wooden chairs and tables scattered across the two linking bar rooms.  Drinkers are very welcome at the Stephan Langton!

Matt & Marissa both strive for quality & atmosphere, two things that can’t be compromised on, working with the freshest ingredients & local produce, including Pheasants shot on the Wooton estate (where the pub is situated). The food is a blend of modern English & classic French dishes, Wholesome Country PubGrub & A la Carte menus, all cooked fresh & to order. The menu changes with the seasons - every three months. Food is served either in the pub or the spacious separate restaurant.  To book a table either click here or call 01306 730775.

Dogs Welcome!

Dogs are very welcome in the bar area and there is a water bowl for the thirsty ones!  In fact, the Stephan Langton has its own canine resident who takes pride of place perched on the hatch at the bar!

History

Stephen Langton (died 1228) served as England's Archbishop of Canterbury, the highest ecclesiastical office in the land. He played an important role in events surrounding the fabled Magna Carta, signed by the English king in 1215. Though the document specified certain rights to England's landed aristocracy, it is sometimes heralded as the first formal declaration of human rights in history.  To find out more please click here.
