20th-century 'Mediterranean' garden with views to the sea

This magical garden, planted to allow for climate change with colourful borders, shrub-filled banks and grassy terraces, is set in a sheltered valley with distant views to the sea and surrounds an Elizabethan manor house (not open).

There are delightful walks on to the downs across the adjoining Mottistone Estate.

Closes dusk if earlier. House open BH Mon 26 May only, 2–5:30. Guided tours for NT members on that day, 10–12. Additional charges apply. Last admission 30mins before closing

Parking - In main car park. Steps from car park to entrance. Disabled visitors may be dropped off at the pedestrian entrance before parking
